Fine Art Store of Rochester, N. Y.

The Fine Art Store also known as Rochester Art Supply will be the primary merchant at CenterFold this year. They have quite a large selection of prepackaged kami paper as well as a huge selection of other art supplies. There aren't that many book titles listed on their web site, but the following text is quoted from their book page: "If you are looking for a book on a particular medium and you don't see one here that meets your needs, feel free to email us!"
We are therefore suggesting that you create a wishlist composed of books, paper, tools, whatever art supplies you've been looking for and/or wish to purchase. If you let Fine Art Store know what you want you'll have a better chance of buying what you've been looking for.

Ohio Paper Folders is our state association which exists to help us disseminate information about the various origami groups in Ohio and the variety of activities in which Ohio's local groups are participating. Any origami group or origami instructor in Ohio that wishes to post information about their group/activities on this site please contact us, and don't forget that Origami USA will post local area group information on their website.

Athens Origami Group

Anne Roberts is running an origami group in the Athens, Ohio area. If you wish to join the Athens group, send your information to me ms@ohiopaperfolders.com and I'll let Anne know.

Cleveland Origami Group

I'm still hopeful for the development of the Cleveland area group. Several people have expressed an interest in hosting origami groups. I will post information here as I learn how plans develop.

Capital Area Paper Shapers

CAPS was founded by Monica Salisbury in July 2007 to deal with the lack of an Ohio Origami group. With weekly notices in local newspapers the group grew to eight members over the following ten months, then quickly jumped to over twenty members after several public seminars.

The group now numbers thirty four, and includes members with a wide range of interests, specialties and skill levels. Members range from "newbies" to a published author of origami books, as well as some very talented designers. Some focus on modular origami, others on complex wet folding.

CAPS is primarily a group of origami artists. The members are predominantly Ohioans; we have members in Cleveland, Dayton, Cincinnati, Athens as well as Columbus. We are always happy to welcome new members. Currently there are no fees or dues for membership. The only requirement is an interest in origami and/or paper arts, including kusudama, kirigami, paper making, and paper sculpture. But we are first and foremost an origami group.

Being origami enthusiasts we are always eager to share models and techniques we've learned. We meet monthly to fold and exchange techniques. Everyone is welcome .

We meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month. At this time we are meeting at the Westerville Public Library. If that should change we'll post the change on this page.

Our mission as a group is to stretch our abilities in origami but also to participate in and create programs to stimulate interest in and spread awareness of origami.

The prevalent belief about origami is it's a cute hobby for children but it's so much more. People aren't going to realize what it is and can be until we (origamians) start getting out there to show them it really is art.

FAVAGAMI

Join Oberlin's one and only paper folding group. Hang out, learn new folds, and share origami with others. FAVAGAMI is free and takes place once a month, and is open to origami enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Preregistration is not required. FAVAGAMI meets at FAVA in Oberlin, located in the New Union Center for the Arts. All ages welcome. Children 11 & under must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, go to FAVA If you have questions please direct them to James Peake.

Northeast Ohio Origami Group

Lisa Cheng has organized PLAN members an origami group in Northeast Ohio. This group is small and currently not looking for additional members. I have added them to the list a) for the sake of thoroughness and b) in anticipation they may want to announce some of their activities. I for one, am quite eager to see how they proceed.

CenterFold has the priviledge of having gotten Tomoko Fuse and David Brill's commitment to be guests of honor at our convention in 2010.
